SCA Green Coffee Intermediate
The Green Coffee Intermediate course is designed to build on the knowledge gained in the Green Coffee Foundation course and prepare the learner for more complex job functions found in the green coffee profession. Specifically, these include a deeper and balanced look at botany, agronomy, seasonality, processing, resting, shipment, storage, decaffeination, markets, certifications, transactions, and quality differentiation. Learners are also introduced to grading, defects and positive attributes as they relate to green coffee contracts.
Participation on this course does not require any prior modules being completed but the following courses are recommended:
- Introduction to Coffee
- Green Coffee Foundation
- Sensory Skills Foundation
It is recommended that you have been working in the industry for a minimum of six months in a job with exposure to green coffee before taking this course.

This course can be taken with or without SCA certification and can be used towards the SCA Diploma. We would recommend certification for anyone either already working in, or seeking a career in the industry. The intermediate level certificates come at a discounted rate for SCA members.
